Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a country of stunning natural beauty, set in the Balkans in south-east Europe. Nearly half the territory of the country is classified as being in the mountains. It enjoys over 370kms of coastline to the Black Sea, renowned for it’s wide sandy beaches. It is bordered by Romania via the river Danube in the North, to the west by Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia, to the south by Turkey and Greece and to the east by the Black Sea.

The country has evolved massively since 1989 and it’s break away from the fallen communist empire. Whilst the infrastructure has had significant investment this is still very much an ongoing program and it’s entry into EU in 2007 is accelerating this. It is predicted to join the EUROZONE around 2012.It has a population of approximately 8 million people and it is in rich in culture and folklore traditions. It is a country of enormous history, stunning monastries and decorated churches. The Bulgarian currency is the lev which is tied to the Euro at a rate of 1.956 lev to the euro. The country has exploded on to the international property scene in the past 5 years , with the initial investments predominantly on the beautiful coastal resorts and the stunning Rila, Pirin and RodopiMountains.
