Pamporovo sits in South Bulgaria, close to the greek border. It is Europe’s most southerly resort and enjoys an excellent sunshine record. Whilst the skiing is not extensive with just 25kms of slopes, it has an excellent reputation as a great resort to learn to ski.
It is a very friendly and pretty resort set in the Rodopi mountain range. There are plans to extend the ski area going forward. It is also marketed as a mountains and Lakes resort and is surrounded by beautiful rugged countryside. Walking and hiking tours are popular as increasingly are mountain biking, horse riding and more extreme sports.
In 2005 Pamporovo area was classified as a tourist area of national importance and limits put on the areas where residential construction could be built.
